The University of Sydney Department of Modern Greek invites you to the launch of Antigone Kefala’s new book, A Writer’s Journey.

Co-edited by Vrasidas Karalis (Professor of Greek, University of Sydney) and Helen Nickas (editor and publisher), the book is a critical look at the life and works of Antigone Kefala, a poet and prose writer who came to the Antipodes in the early fifties and since 1960 calls Sydney home.

It comprises a selection of interviews, reviews and essays, giving a fascinating insight into this writer – originally a Greek from Romania. The book aims to stimulate a wide-ranging dialogue on the state of Australian literature and the place within it of writers such as Antigone Kefala.

The event will be chaired by Wenche Ommundsen (Professor of English Literatures at the University of Wollongong) and launched by Sneja Gunew (Professor of English at the University of British Columbia)

When: Saturday 12 July at 5.00 pm

Where: The University of Sydney, John Woolley Building (main entrance from Science Road)
