The Greek Australian Cultural League of Melbourne (GACLM) will be showcasing the work of 12 artists in its third annual art exhibition, Antipodean Palette 2013.
The exhibition, being held at Steps Gallery in Carlton, is aimed at supporting visual arts in the community and hopes to foster a spirit of cooperation among artists from various disciplines, including painting, sculpture, photography, digital prints, computer art, collage and pyrography.
This year the exhibition will be launched by distinguished guest, Minister for the Arts The Hon Heidi Victoria, and gallery owner and President of the Australian Commercial Galleries Association (ACGA) Anna Pappas.
Artists showcasing their work include Thalia Andrews, Costa Athanasiou, Frixos Ioannides, Adriana Karamitros, Jenny Kontogiannis Dumont, Sofronis Michaelides, Soula Mantalvanos, Vasy Petros, Mia Rappel and Tina Sideris.
Opening night will be held on Tuesday 25 June, where guests will be treated to a musical interlude by artists Pavlos Andronikos and Archie Argyropoulos.
The GACLM will also be holding a bi-lingual poetry recital evening, comprising well-known poets of the Greek Australian community.
Additionally as part of the Antipodes Events Program, George Donikian will be the guest speaker at ABC radio journalist Phil Kafkaloudis’ book launch of ‘Someone Else’s War’.
Exhibition Antipodean Palette 2013 will be held at Steps Gallery, 62 Lygon St Carlton from June 25 until July 2, Monday to Friday 10.00 am to 4.00 pm, Saturday to Sunday 11.00 am to 4.00 pm.
