Greece has a new event to add to its calendar, with the first Athens Spirit Film Festival taking place this week.
As the country continues to trudge through the economic crisis, organisers wanted to give people an opportunity to partake in a ‘spiritual feast’, and focus inward on their thoughts and general well-being.
The festival commenced on Thursday and will run for the course of one week, concluding on November 25. During this time, those interested in getting on board, will have a chance to attend screenings of selected films packed with spiritual and philosophical content.
With the added support of the city of Athens, there will also be film analyses hosted around the city, involving scientists, philosophers, writers and experts on subject matters revolving around intellectual development and personal empowerment.
The jam-packed program also includes a debate on spirituality and its relation to science, a workshop on the ‘neighbourhoods of light’, along with music and artistic events.
All funds raised from the festival will be donated to various NGOs with a focus on health and development sectors, to ensure their valuable work continues.
