Christopher Hatzis stabbed to death in Adelaide

Taken too soon: 19-year-old Christopher Hatzis.

8 Aug 2012

Christopher Hatzis was stabbed and killed during a fight involving five to eight men in Adelaide in the early hours of Saturday morning.

The 19-year-old from Findon, was involved in a brawl after an altercation a few minutes earlier at Savvy Nightclub in Waymouth Street, Adelaide. Paramedics treated him at the scene but he was pronounced dead on arrival at Royal Adelaide Hospital.

"Detectives are continuing to analyse extensive CCTV vision of the club and surrounding areas and are seeking the assistance of the public to identify people who were in the area at the time," Major Crime Detective Inspector Mark Trenwith told news.com.au

"It may be that some of the men involved in this incident didn't realise that a knife was involved or that someone was going to be stabbed if that is the case we would urge them to come forward and do the right thing by the victim and his family," he said.

Police have yet to identify Mr Hatzis' killer and have asked the public for any information regarding this case.

In a response to this shocking death, friends of the young boy created the facebook page RIP Christopher Hatzis 14/09/1992-04/08/2012 on Saturday and the page has - at the time this article was written - received 1655 likes.

Friends have used the page to send condolences to the boy's family but also to pay their respects for a life lost too soon, preferring to remember him as the young boy who loved life, soccer and was always smiling.

This is the second stabbing death in 48 hours in Adelaide.
