Crean full of pride for Kingston
Federal member for Hotham, Simon Crean, with Mayor of Kingston, Arthur Athanasopoulos at the Kingston Heath Regional Soccer facility.
Simon Crean, the Federal member for Hotham, last Friday turned the first sod to commence works at the Kingston Heath Regional Soccer Facility.
The project has been funded with over $2.9 million through the Rudd Government’s Economic Stimulus Plan and $363,000 from Kingston City Council.
Mayor of Kingston, Arthur Athanasopoulos welcomed the project as part of the beginning of Regional Soccer Strategy within the City of Kingston.
It will see the provisions of state-of-the-art artificial playing fields at Kingston Heath Reserve, through the replacement of two existing grass soccer pitches.
It will also provide a full range of ancillary facilities at the Reserve, such as lighting, parking, scoreboards and landscaping, as part of the development of the Regional Soccer Facility for sport.
“This funding was delivered from the more than $1 billion Regional and Local Community Infrastructure Program - the largest one-off investment in local infrastructure in Australia’s history,” a proud Simon Crean said.
