Athenian comedian Katerina Vrana will be performing her show ‘Feta with the Queen’ in Greek Wednesday 24 April at Philhellene’s restaurant.
The comedian, who now bases herself in the UK, will be speaking in her native tongue for Australian audiences only.
When asked why she was performing the show in Greek in Melbourne, Katerina said that although it was the Melbourne International Comedy Festival organisers who suggested she do a show in Greek, she jumped at the chance.
“I said yes because if there’s one place where I can do my show in English and Greek it’s Melbourne,” she explains.
“Don’t think I could do that at the Edinburgh Festival in Scotland, for example. Far less Greeks there. Well, compared to Melbourne, there are far less Greeks everywhere. The only thing I’m worried about is the Greeks bringing along their yiayia or pappou to see the Greek one. Because I might swear or refer to sex. And I know my own grandparents were not enthusiastic about me doing either. So, just keep in mind, there will be swearing and sex. Not live sex. Or recorded sex. I think I should stop talking now.”
Feta with the Queen in Greek will be performed by Katerina Vrana Wednesday 24 April at Philhellene Provincial Greek Cuisine, 551-553 Mount Alexander Road, Moonee Ponds Vic, at 7.00pm. $40 includes show and mezedes. For bookings call (03) 9370 3303.
