Over 100 Greek vases from the thirteenth to the fourth century BC will be on show for a special masterclass.
‘Looking at Greek Vases’ is a special one-off event as part of Melbourne University’s Melbourne masterclasses that will feature vases from the Ian Potter Museum of Art, one of the most highly regarded collections of classical antiquities in Australia.
Presented by author Dr Heather Jackson and archeologist Dr Andrew Jamieson, the hands-on session will be the first time members of the public will be able to see the intricacies of Greek vase design up close.
The class will be held on Sunday 25 August at the Ian Potter Museum of Art, 800 Swanston Street, Carlton. The masterclass will start at 1.00 pm and the lecture at 3.30 pm.
Afternoon tea is provided, and participants will also be able to purchase the colour-illustrated volume, A Catalogue of the Greek Vases in the Collection of the University of Melbourne, by Peter James Connor and Heather Jackson, at a discounted price.
