Following a sold-out show at the Australian Museum, George Doukas, Sandy Constantopedos and friends are back by popular demand to perform their Tribute to Mitropanos at the Factory Theatre on Friday 16 August.
Doing justice to such a legendary performer was never going to be an easy task, however those who were lucky enough to witness the performance by George, Sandy and the band would agree they delivered an outstanding show. A standing ovation and the demand for more prompted organisers to give the public what they wanted – a second show.
With a career spanning 40 years, there is no shortage of Mitropanos hits in the performance line-up, including many of his famous songs that had been written in the earlier stages of his career as well as more recent songs which continue to be popular, including Roza (Ρόζα), Panta Gelasti (Πάντα γελαστοί), Ta ladadika (Tα Λαδαδικα), Alimono (Αλίμονο) and many more.
One can be fairly certain that the music, whilst remaining true to the Mitropanos sound, will at times surprise the listener with unexpected twists and turns as George Doukas, Sandy Constantopedos and friends pay tribute to his legacy.
Tickets for the Mitropanos Tribute are available online at www.factorytheatre.com.au or call 02 9550-3666. Cost is $30. Show starts at 8.00 pm. For more information visit www.greekfestivalofsydney.com.au
