A Mount Athos abbot has been summoned to give evidence concerning the land swaps between the monastery and the state. Abbot Ephraim of Vatopedi is due to appear before magistrate Irene Kalou on 29 November.
His alleged accomplice in this case, Father Arsenios, will give evidence on 14 November. The pair are considered key players in the notorious land swap cases. The charges against them both include morally instigating the issue of false certificates, fraud and legalising income from illegal activity.
