The elections are nowhere near in sight, but Greeks believe that a change of government is bound to happen, whenever they go back to polls. According to the lastest poll, SYRIZA is losing popularity, remaining second with a 16 percent, while the opposition has risen to 32 percent, which should give ND the majority, if it is reflected to the next election result. All smaller parties seem to be gaining from the Government’s loss, most notably the Nazi Goldent Dawn party which is third with 8 percent and the Communist Party which remains fourth with 6 percent. PASOK seems to be on the rise, with 5.5 percent, while the other centre-left party, To Potami, is below 3 percent, as is the co-governing party of Independent Greeks  (ANEL) – if this tendency is confirmed in the elections, neither party will make it to the Parliament.

The same survey shows leader of the opposition, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, as most suitable for PM by 36 percent, while Alexis Tsipras lags behind with 19.5 percent.

The majority of those taking part in the survey, conducted by the University of Macedonia, believe (by a percentage of 70.5) that Nea Dimocratia will win the next general election, however, only 38 percent believe that an early election should be held and 64.5 percent are pessimistic, expecting 2017 to be worse than 2016.
