The Women of Rebetika
An uplifting, emotionally charged concert with songs of love, desire, displacement, sorrow and survival that were vital during one of the darkest chapters in Greek history between 1915 to 1922.
An all female cast featuring Melbourne’s own Anthea Sidiropoulos, popular female band San Mayemennes direct from Greece, and accomplished musician, Irine Vela, will pay tribute to the legendary female artists of the rebetika (Greek blues) era in Greece such as the great Roza Eskenazi who was born in Constantinople of Greek and Jewish parents.
When: Sunday July 5 at 7pm
Venue: Melbourne Town Hall
