Melbourne is set to open its doors again for the much loved Open House. Hundreds of famous Melbourne landmarks and interesting buildings will be open to the public, some for the first time.

Greek inspired architecture will also be on show, with the Shrine of Remembrance, Parliament House and the State Library of Victoria opened to the public.

The Shrine of Remembrance is modelled on the ancient Parthenon and all three buildings show Greek influences with imposing columns and sculptures.

In the State Library, people are invited to tour the iconic dome, while in Parliament visitors can move through the Chambers, walk through the Parliamentary Library, and spend time in Queen’s Hall.

Also on the Open House list is the Hellenic Museum, where visitors can tour the grounds and see the current exhibition on assisted migration.

For the first time, a select number of visitors will be able to tour the derelict Flinders Street Station ballroom.

Now in its fifth year, Open House is showcasing a record 111 buildings in total and sees over 135,000 visitors on the two day event. This year, the list includes places of worship and television studios, multi-use offices and schools.

Open House is on July 27 and 28 and some tours will need to be booked in advance.
