To honour the centenary of the murder of Greek migrant and trade union activist Louis Tikas, the Greek Community of Melbourne is presenting a special documentary screening of the multi-award-winning documentary Palikari – Louis Tikas and the Ludlow Massacre.

Set in early 20th-century America, director Nikos Ventouras and producer Lamprini Thoma follow the lead up to the murder of Tikas, charting the story of the 1913 – 1914 coalminers’ strike.

According to acclaimed historian Howard Zinn, this brutal historical event was the “culminating act of perhaps the most violent struggle between corporate power and laboring men in American history.”

A ticketed event, entry costs $10 for Premium Greek Community Members and $8 for concession.

A percentage of the funds raised through the screening will be donated to 3CR radio program Greek Resistance Bulletin by request of the documentary’s directors.
