As his Australian tour is coming to the end, the legend of Cretan lyra, Psarantonis, surprised the audience at the Antipodes Festival, when he took to the main stage on Sunday.

Although strong winds late on Saturday night threatened day two of the Festival, the event continued with its program on Sunday, that closed with Psarantonis’ surprise appearance accompanied by his son George Xylouris.

The Cretan kefi and bewitching sounds from three-strings Cretan lyra in hands hands, were complemented by dancing groups of Pancretan Association of Melbourne, and many other musicians and performers.

Now in his 70’s, the living legend of Greek music, Psarantonis will complete his 2013 Australian tour with Friday night’s concert at Forum Theatre, Melbourne.
