The Hawthorn Spartans, coached by Con Terzoglou, have added boxing as part of their training drills this year.

And there is no shortage in attendance with more than 40 players vying for the opportunity of making the team this season. More talented players coming into the ranks gives the Spartans a deep safety-net when unavoidable absences and injuries eventually hit during the season.

Highlight for the month of February will be the Hawthorn Spartans attendance at the Antipodes Festival’s Lonsdale Street Glendi – on Saturday February 25 and Sunday 26.

Spartan players including captain Anthony Demetriou will be in attendance all weekend at the Spartans stall promoting the Greek-Australian Australian Rules football team. Give-aways of miniature footballs will be provided (until stocks run out) to those who meet and greet members of the team during the weekend’s festivities.

The Hawthorn Spartans encourage Neos Kosmos readers to attend the Spartans stall and try their skill at the handball target or watch highlights of the 2011 season on Spartan TV. Come in and say ‘Yiasou’!
