The Hawthorn Spartans bounced back from last weeks defeat taking the points off Old Geelong, having not lost at home since their inaugural game in round 1 2011. The Spartans came out firing opening their account as coach KB kicked the first goal and at quarter time led by 32 points. Old Geelong came back at the Spartans in the second quarter kicking 3.1 to 1.4 to reduce the margin to 23 points at half-tme.
After the long break, despite a couple of injuries, the Spartans came out played inspired footy kicking 3.2 to1behind to three quarter time. The last quarter was a mere formality as Hawthorn ran out winners by 28 points in a low scoring game.
