Greek Australian pop sensation Vassy is to be honoured as part of the Hellenic Society of Constantinople’s Annual Gala in Los Angeles, California on Saturday night. The society is recognising the artist’s achievements following her current Top 20 US Billboard Chart single We Are Young.
This will be the 46th year of the organisation’s annual event – which each year honours a person of Greek descent who has performed exceptional duties in their field of work and expertise.
“We are very happy to honour Vassy this year, not only because of her extraordinary achievements in the arts but because of her Greek heritage that descends from Constantinople,” said the president of HSC, Mike Bagakis.
Vassy joins a long line of exceptional honourees from previous years including the likes of Clint Eastwood, Nia Vardalos and Jim Gianopoulos.
“I feel so touched and honoured to be receiving this from the HSC. It’s such a warm feeling to be acknowledged by my own Greek community, and to follow in the line of so many key honourees in the past is very special. Music is my life and so many wonderful people in the community have been my biggest champions. My thanks go out to all for this very special recognition,” said Vassy.
Vassy’s music has generated over 2.5 million views on Youtube alone, with her recent single We Are Young jumping to Number 12 in the US Billboard Dance Charts.
