Greek singer, Nikos Vertis, was subjected to an unexpected inspection by tax officers, while performing at a well known Athenian club on New Year’s Eve.
Within an investigation for tax evasion and tax fraud in night clubs, the officers asked the well-known artist to present his employment contract.
Vertis claimed he did not carry the document with him and thus failed to comply with the police order.
In addition, it was found that two employers of the same business were deprived of work insurance benefits.
However, official figures recently released speak of the decrease of economic violations in night clubs, including issuing of receipts and “black money” scams. The fine imposed to businesses employing workers without providing work insurance benefits can be up to 10,500 €.
