Power moves ahead of Francitti
Will Power just keeps on powering ahead
Will Power.
Australian Will Power took the 2011 IndyCar Championship points lead after a second place finish at the Montegi IndyCar Grand Prix in Japan.
Power, finished 3.4375 seconds behind New Zealander Scott Dixon but, lucky for Power, defending series champion Dario Franchitti had another horrid day, finishing eighth after being penalised for hitting Australian Ryan Briscoe's car on lap 26.
Power now has 542 points, an 11-point lead over Franchetti at 531, with Dixon 483 in third position. With just two rounds remaining at banked oval circuits in Kentucky and Las Vegas, Power is in the best position to win his first IndyCar Championship series.
