Australian Will Power, starting from pole position, won the inaugural Baltimore Indycar Grand Prix. He finds himself only 5 points behind championship leader Dario Franchitti, with three races remaining, (one road course and a pair of 1.5-mile ovals).

The 3.28 kilometre, 12-turn street circuit situated at Oriole Park, was Baltimore’s first street race and featured a very demanding circuit with several tight turns, bumpy terrain, tight chicane and narrow pit lanes.

Power had the best time in final qualifying and sat on pole. On the difficult Baltimore street circuit, he led for almost the entire race bar one lap and took his sixth victory of the season with a masterful performance, unchallenged throughout the entire race.

Oriol Servia finished second, and Tony Kanaan was third. Dario Franchitti came in fourth and is now in danger of losing his championship lead. Scott Dixon was fifth and Danica Patrick took sixth, but Indycars will lose her to NASCAR where she will be driving stock cars next year. Will Power also took over the Mario Andretti Road Trophy lead. The final road course of the season is in Japan at Twin Ring Motegi on September 17.
