Recorded at Big Moth Studios in the semi-industrial back blocks of Melbourne, Aiolos (God of Winds) captures a live improvisation around a new composition by George Xylouris.

Aiolos is the first track on the Xylouris Ensemble’s forthcoming new album ‘Aeras/Air’. Their first studio album since the ARIA-nominated ‘Drakos’, ‘Aeras’ was recorded and mixed by sound engineer Casey Rice, who was recommended to the Ensemble by The Dirty Three, based on his work on their albums ‘Cinder’ and ‘Toward the Low Sun’.

The Xylouris Ensemble is a multi-generational band playing original music and reinterpreting traditional tunes from the Cretan and Irish traditions. The band was begun by George Xylouris in 1990, and recently expanded to include children of its original members. Previous albums by the Ensemble include: ‘Xylouris Ensemble’, ‘Daphne’, ‘Antipodes’ (ARIA nominated), ‘Drakos’ (ARIA nominated), and ‘Xylouris Ensemble Live in Melbourne’.
