Moreland Community Legal Centre (MCLC) and the Australian Greek Welfare Society (AGWS), in an effort to provide assistance, guidance and support to grandparents with family law disputes, are offering a series of legal information sessions to those who speak Greek.

Since March 2011 MCLC together with AGWS, have been developing and promoting a set of fact sheets concerning grandparents and family law. The aim of the Grandparents, Grandchildren and Family Law project, is to encourage grandparents to be confident and informed and to contribute positively to the care, welfare and development of their grandchildren.

The fact sheets are designed to help older people understand their options and to encourage them to act early when faced with family conflict. On 3 February 2012, six fact sheets will be available in both Greek and English. This includes information about: family Law, family dispute resolution, family violence, child protection, financial support for grandparents, and a referral guide to free support services and free legal advice. These fact sheets will be distributed in printed form and from 24 March 2012 will be accessible on line via MCLC and AGWS’s web sites.

During February, AGWS will be holding three information sessions about family. For more information contact AGWS on 9388 9998, or online agws.com.au, or MCLC online morelandclc.org.au
