Australian actor Alex Dimitriades won the 2012 AACTA Award for Best Lead Actor in a Television Drama for his role as Harry in The Slap – the Christos Tsiolkas novel of the same name that was adapted for screen.
His performance as Harry in episode 3 of The Slap won the AACTA Award for Best Direction in a Television Drama.
This was Dimitriades’ third AFI / AACTA Award nomination. He was nominated as Best Actor in a Lead Role for the 1998 film Head On – written by Christos Tsiolkas and directed by Ana Kokkinos. In 2001, he was nominated for an AFI as Best Actor in a Supporting Role for La Spagnola in 2001.
