Just like Mercedes and Louis Vuitton, the consumer electronics market has a number of ultra-high end brands producing products designed to empty wallets and increase chest-beating. Runco is such a brand.

Known most recently for releasing a $200,000 home theatre projector, the company has just released a relatively cheap $4,500 projector product.

The LS-1 looks remarkably like a robotic vacuum cleaner. It is a single-ship DLP projector which features 10,000:1 contrast ratio and 780 ANSI lumens brightness. Not great stats when you compare to other projectors in the same or cheaper price bracket, but great if you’re buying a Runco projector.

The inputs are tucked away nicely behind a removable panel. All the usual suspects are available: two HDMI ports, one component, one RGB, one s-video and composite, and one RS-232 port. The remote is also back-lit, providing a handy use-in-the-dark feature. A perfect product for the brand-conscious thrift buyer.
