Because apokries carnival in Greece falls on the same day as the annual Clayton Community Festival, Manasis School of Greek Dance and Culture is encouraging all to dress up, wear a bell, a costume or a mask to celebrate the Greek tradition of apokries.

Students from the dance school, who will be performing on the cultural stage on the day, will be donning animal skins, masks and bells to showcase Greek customs and traditions to the people at the Clayton festival. There will also be a cultural marquee set up that will include a glendi, a live Greek band and reenactments of the koudounoforoi tradition. The festival will include a street party as a celebration for all in Monash.

The Clayton Community Festival will take place at Clayton Road, Clayton, on Sunday 26 February, from midday to 6:00 pm.
