The Hellenic Club of Canberra will be hosting photographic exhibition Images of Lesvos Island Greece, by photographer Georgios Iordanou. Born in Mytilene, Iordanou spent his formative years in Antissa, a village in Lesovs.

He studied in Thessaloniki and went on to work as an engineer in Greece. He studied as a photographer under Georgios Poupi, which whom he published the photo album Lesovs.

During the last few years, he has concentrated on his photography, and chooses to feature landscapes of the island of Lesvos, as well as it’s people giving his work a common everyday element. He is a collector of black and white pictures from all over Lesvos. Mr Iordanou has exhibited his work on the island of Lesvos extensively in Greece, but also around Europe. Mr Iordanou will work alongside with Australian Lesvian associations to ensure the exhibition is seen all over Australia.

Images of Lesvos Island Greece will take place at the Hellenic Club Community Gallery in Matilda Street, Woden, ACT, on the Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 March, The opening and artist’s presentation will take place at 6:00 pm on the Saturday night.
