The Victorian Coalition Government’s Minister for Sport and Recreation, Hugh Delahunty has announced the latest round of the Community Facility Funding Program (minor facilities category) with 67 projects across Victoria receiving over $4.3 million in funds.

In particular, the communities in Melbourne’s northern suburbs will soon be able to enjoy better local facilities thanks to a $410,000 funding boost while sporting communities in Melbourne’s east will also receive almost $270,000 as well.
Mr Delahunty said by improving the quality of local sport and recreation facilities, the Coalition Government was providing more opportunities for grass roots clubs to expand their membership, bring more people together and get them involved in sport but also in other community events.

Ensuring local people have access to high quality sport and recreation facilities is a key element in the Coalition Government’s plan to get more people more active more often.
Biggest winners of the funding round are Yarra, Moreland and Nillimbuck Shire Councils at $100,000 each in order to up-grade paths, develop basketball and netball facilities, tennis courts, flood lighting at various grounds and a new skate / BMX park in Hurstbridge.
