Loutraki Casino has come under fire over its failure to pay employees on time, and could face closure as a result.

According to Kathimerini‘s sources, two-and-a-half months worth of salaries are owed to its workers.

New laws voted in earlier this year stipulate that if salaries are not paid to employees within 30 days, the casino could face having its operating licence suspended for a couple of months at least. If this occurs up to three times, the permit can legally be revoked permanently.

The casino, located west of Athens, was inspected by the Labor Inspection Squad, which forwarded its findings to gaming regulator EEEP. The case is expected to be discussed at the regulator’s next meeting, which will eventually decide on the outcome of the case.

Loutraki Casino is not the only one under watch over owing employees money; according to sources, casinos across Greece in Rio, Corfu and Syros will also be invited to the upcoming hearing.
