Evette Markos, a Latrobe Regional Hospital doctor, has been convicted and fined over a hit-and-run collision from last year.

The 42-year-old health professional failed to give way when she was driving along Shakespeare Street, in Traralgon, south-east Victoria, and hit another car.

Markos was convicted and fined $1000 and has had her driver’s licence suspended for one month.

The passenger in the car received minor injuries from the collision.

In sentencing, the magistrate said she had “blatant disregard” for the victims and would have known someone had been hurt.

A victim of the crash, Brayden Pratt, says he is disappointed with the sentence Markos received and said that he couldn’t understand how someone in her professions wouldn’t check if the passengers of the car she hit were hurt.
