Staying true to its annual memorial of Dimosthenis Manasis’ grandparents Fotini and Dimosthenis Manasis, the acclaimed dance school hosted a colourful and full program of music events at Oakleigh’s Kingston Hall last Sunday.

The event began a few years ago as a small “open class” dance lesson, where families were welcome to come and watch a lesson in progress, giving every students’ yiayiades and pappoudes the chance to feel special.

“Grandparents Day was established to show our appreciation for our grandparents and other special people in our lives,” Dimosthenis Manasis said.

“Throughout the duration of the concert each year, the project[ed] AV slideshow acts as a sentimental backdrop to the whole event, screening wedding photos of the grandparents of our students’ families; memories spanning across four generations.”

Each class, from three-year-old beginners to senior students, performed a medley of Greek dances to the sound of traditional Greek folk music from talented students as well as other special guests.

Neos Kosmos’ photographer Kostas Deves was there to capture the feel of the celebrated event.
