The Crete Half Marathon has become one of the island’s most hyped events attracting Greece runners and international Marathon aficionados alike.

As per tradition, each year the video promo competes with the actual event in popularity as organisers have taken it upon themselves to promote Crete in the most original and fun way.

The 2018 Half Marathon committee has released yet another great short video that offers a mini tour around the island and its culture with a fun(ny) twist.

In the video a German tourist is enjoying one of the island’s most picturesque and off-the-beaten-track views when he almost gets abducted by a bunch of locals who are only trying to prevent him from committing suicide.

Cretan music legend Psarantonis is also starring in the video as part of a quirky large family.

Cretan hospitality is big in this promo, however, if things get super friendly in Arkalochori, Heraklion one might want to make a run for it like the German protagonist of the video.

The 2018 run is set to take place on Sunday, 7 October in Arkalochori; thousands of athletes are expected to join and attempt their best time conquering the gorgeous and challenging route.
