Tonight, Melbourne’s Greek Centre will hold a fundraising event for the wildfire victims in Greece.

The benefit will be broadcast live on ABC Radio Melbourne & Victoria and it will be hosted by The Friday Revue’s Richelle Hunt and Brian Nankervis.

The proceeds from the initiative will go to the families of the over 90 people who died in the recent fires and the survivors that saw their homes and property perish.

Action for Athens is a joint effort undertaken by the Red Cross, ABC Radio and the Greek Centre.

The event coincides with the celebration of the 15th of August; with Melbourne being home to the third biggest Greek population spots will be limited.

Tonight’s line-up includes music from The Philhellenes playing Rebetika, Tim Rogers, Deborah Conway & Willy Zygier, La Voce della Luna, Jessie Lloyd, Zourouna and special guests Mary Coustas, George Donikian, Komninos and Pi O.

You can show your support for Action for Athens by registering to the fundraising event. Entry is by donation and you will be requested to do so with dollar notes.
