A tanker travelling under a Greek flag, has reportedly gone missing since 13 August when it was last spotted in the Gulf of Guinea.

Pantelena, according to the official statement issued by its Georgia-based crewing company www.fleetmon.com states that all contacts have been lost since.

The tanker last transmitted signal while en route from Lome Togo to Libreville Gabon, last known position dated 2100 UTC Aug 13 in 00 32N 008 48E, some 40 nm west of Libreville.

The crew listing confirms 17 Georgia citizens and two staff of Russian citizenship were on board when the ship went missing.

FleetMon’s official Vessel Risk Rating Partner, assessed Pantelena as having a ‘green’ risk rating, having been deployed in Gulf of Guinea trade where tanker hijackings by pirates are very common.

The company has called the ports of Togo, Gabon, Nigeria, Liberia and Ghana but there has been no sighting of the tanker.
