After a busy few months in discussions and negotiations, the 16 Greek Super League competitors are finally prepared to come out of the locker rooms and start the season.
AEK will look to defend their trophy, with Olympiakos and PAOK having their eyes on the prize as well. Of course a surprise in the likes of Atromitos, Asteras Tripolis or Panionios should not be ruled out either. Some teams expected to be aiming for the lucrative third and fourth positions that lead to the European competitions are Xanthi and PAS Giannena. Furthermore, OFI Crete and Aris Salonica, two teams with great history in the league, are set to make their reappearance this season, which means that we will have the return of the Thessaloniki derbies between PAOK and Aris, but also that it will be more difficult for some of the top-tier teams to get those away points in stadiums such as the Theodoros Vardinogiannis or the Kleanthis Vikelidis, where passionate fans create an incredible atmosphere.
Finally, it will be very interesting to see how Panathinaikos will adapt to the new order of things given that their financial status no longer allows them to be in the leading position, but may instead be trying to survive in the category. Below is a more detailed look at each team.
