It was a significant day for the Lemnian Community of Victoria on 13 October, as members came together to celebrate 106 years of Independence at the Lemnian Ball.

It was the first major event hosted by the newly appointed committee, and they couldn’t have expected a better turnout.

Community President Philip Diamataris welcomed the 620 people in attendance and acknowledged the numerous official guests.

Present on the night were Federal Member for Wills Peter Khalil, State Member for Sandringham Murray Thompson, President of the Lemnos Gallipoli Commemorative Committee Lee Tarlamis, President of the Friends of Lemnos Anzacs and Owner of Varos Village Resort Lemnos Stelios Mantzaris, and the Kontias Lemnos Agios Dimitrios Community committee.

It was a particularly proud and emotional moment when the newly established Lemnian dance group took to the floor to perform a series of traditional dances, showcasing the community’s youth and heritage.

The Lemnian Committee would like to thank everyone who attended the Ball, and gave their support to make the event possible.
