The Netherlands are back! At least, that’s the assumption any sports fan would make after baring witness to the last two performances of the ‘oranje’ against France and Germany for the final two games of the Nations League. On Friday, Ronald Koeman’s men gave a great show against the World champions at De Kuip in Rotterdam, beating them 2-0 with one goal in each half. And on Monday, even though Germany was the greater team on the pitch for over 80 minutes, the Dutch showed that they have many ways of getting the result that they want, scoring twice in a matter of five minutes and claiming a much-needed draw that sent them top of Group 1 and into the semi finals. Meanwhile, Germany will be relegated to League B and will not receive such a favourable draw for the Euro 2020 qualifying phase. In Group 4, Croatia may have avenged their heavy loss against Spain by defeating them 3-2 in Zagreb on Thursday, but it was all for nought, as they lost their final game in England 2-1, despite scoring first. In Group 2, Switzerland shocked Belgium who were two goals in front by the end of 20 minutes thanks to Thorgan Hazard’s efforts, yet a hat-trick by Seferovic and further goals by Ricardo Rodriguez and Nico Elvedi gave the Swiss top position of the group and a place in the semis. Portugal secured a draw at home against Italy and so their final game against Poland (1-1 draw) is irrelevant, as they have already secured top spot in Group 3. In other important matches for the Nations League, Wales lost at home to Denmark 1-2, a penalty won by former Panathinaikos striker Marcus berg and converted by Andreas Granqvist was enough to guarantee success for Sweden in Turkey and Cyprus were defeated 0-2 at home by Norway. After these results, the four teams that will advance from each league into the semi-final knockout round for an automatic place in the Euro 2020 were made known:

League A: Netherlands, Switzerland, Portugal, England
League B: Ukraine, Sweden, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Denmark
League C: Scotland, Finland, Norway, Serbia
League D: Georgia, Belarus, Kosovo, Fyrom
