Over 150 guests attended the annual Christmas concert organised by the Greek Community of St Anna’s school in Gold Coast, Queensland, on Sunday 9 December.

Students, teachers, parents and relatives enjoyed an entertaining day filled with poems, skits, singing, dancing and Christmas carols.

In attendance on the day were also members of AHEPA (Qld) from Brisbane, including Sam Koutsoukos from Chapter Hellas who is responsible for AHEPA’s Education Sector and Ms Kerry Raiti.

During the event, students from Prep to Year 12 received their academic awards presented by AHEPA, while Mr. Koutsoukos also presented a monetary bursary to the best Year 6 student, Chryssa Dakin, in memory of his late wife.

Father Roman presented to the students their end of year certificates and the Principal of the School Mrs Vicki Giannopoulos awarded the encouragement awards.

Meanwhile, the President of Greek community of St Anna, Mr James Nides with wife Anthoulla handed a gift to Year 12 graduate Ms Stephanie Sakley.

The Ladies Auxiliary presented gifts to all school teachers, Principal Mrs Vicki Giannopoulos, Effie Bachlinzanakis, Katerina Kalogeropoulos and Vivian Kalas for their hard work, dedication and commitment of teaching the Greek language and culture to the students throughout the year.

Among those honoured were also the school’s dedicated dancing teachers Sally Dakin-Cominos and Effi Petridis-Alvanos.

Students singing Christmas carols and Santa Claus’ arrival were some of the day’s highlights.
