Greek opposition leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis and president of New Democracy (ND) party is ahead of Alexis Tsipras and ruling SYRIZA, by 10.5 per cent, the latest opinion poll by Pulse shows.

More specifically, 33.5 per cent of respondents said they would vote for the conservatives if elections were held now, against 23 per cent who would still support SYRIZA, Kathimerini reports.

In the survey which took place between 16 and 18 December, when asked who would be most likely to win, participants responded that it would have to be ND with 57 against 25 per cent for SYRIZA, while ND chief Kyriakos Mitsotakis got a 11-point lead over Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras, at 36 and 25 per cent respectively.

The poll results, published on Thursday also point that the center-left Movement for Change and far-right Golden Dawn both garnered 7 per cent of support, with the Communist Party (KKE) sitting at 6 per cent.

Meanwhile, centrist party To Potami and nationalist coalition Independent Greeks failed to get the 3 per cent required to make it into Parliament.
