As we age, our fitness levels and flexibility can diminish, leaving us more vulnerable to accidents such as falls.

To raise awareness and get elderly members of the Greek Australian community active, Pronia together with the City of Monash and Link Health & Community is offering a series of movement and health classes.

Free to attend and open to all ages and levels, the sessions will run every second Wednesday of the month at the Clayton Community Centre.

The program being offered will help to increase fitness and strength, while also improving on balance and flexibility.

To get everyone in the mood, Greek music will be playing during classes. Some of the exercises will be done while standing, while others will incorporate the use of a chair and other equipment.

The program will be specially designed, guided and supervised by an allied health assistant and physiotherapist to ensure participants’ safely carry out the exercises and get the most out of them.

Greek-speaking professionals will be on site to provide information, support and/or referrals to appropriate health services in Monash. Interpreters will also be available.

The Exercise and Information Program will run every second Wednesday of the month: 13 February , 13 March, 10 April , 8 May and 12 June from 10.30am-12 noon at Clayton Community Centre (9-15 Cooke St, Clayton VIC). Attendance is free.
