The Lemnian Community of Melbourne hosted a highly successful ‘Tavern Night’ last Saturday. More than 250 people gathered at the Vogue Ballroom to feast on delicious Greek food and celebrate the organisation’s continuous presence with traditional dancing and music.
The event was the first one that was organised by the youth of the seminal Greek club, and it marked a passing of the torch to the next generation of Lemnians in Melbourne. More than 150 young Lemnians – mostly third generation Greek Australians – took part in the event, and became the night’s protagonists, gaining praise from the ‘old guard’.
The youth are the future of the Lemnian Community, said the organisation’s president, George Giannaros, promising that he and the rest of the board will do whatever it takes to bring them closer to the club and develop initiatives according to their interests.
