The Hellenic cadastre for national land registry was created to ensure the documentation of land size, location, boundaries and ownership of real estate in Greece. Landholders have been asked to ensure property is registered.

In a move to facilitate easier registration for property owners living abroad, Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister Terens Quick sent a letter to Deputy Environment Minister Giorgos Dimaras calling for an extension for the submission date of declarations for Greeks living abroad.

“The Greeks, regardless as to whether they can access the electronic submission or have the assistance of a proxy holder, wish in many cases to take care of their own declarations themselves,” Mr Quick said. “The best time is during their summer holidays in Greece, especially in July and August. The deadline set for the end of June 2019 must therefore be extended.”

Mr Dimaras replied to Mr Quick’s letter by stating that the request and he would put forth a proposal to extend the deadline for Greeks living abroad.
