The year-long programme of events to celebrate the centenary of the liberation of Thessaloniki and western Macedonia will be launched by the Pan-Macedonian Association and the Australian Hellenic Council (NSW), next Wednesday 22 August.
The programme of the evening will include the presentation of Part A of program of events that will be held from August to December 2012, as well as an introduction to ‘A Short History of Macedonia’ – a short course presented by Dr Panayiotis Diamadis for the Hellenic Open University of Sydney.
On the same evening, the new novel Macedon: Child of a God by Paul Hansen will have its Sydney launch. The novel is an insight in the world of Ancient Greece, a time of myth and legend, of Gods and heroes. Dr Vasilis Adrahtas of the Greek Studies Program at Macquarie University will be doing the honours.
The evening will be conducted in both, English and Greek language.
The Pan-Macedonian Association and the Australian Hellenic Council (NSW) invite all interested, to find out the range of events the organising committee has prepared, in order to share this unique anniversary with the Australian Hellenic community and the broader Australian society.
The launch will be held in AHEPA Hall, 394 Princes’ Highway, Rockdale, at 7:00 for 7:30 pm start.
