There was dancing, food and a spirit of euphoria at Oakleigh’s Greek Day on Saturday, proving that the southeastern suburb of Melbourne rightly deserves its reputation as the epicentre of the Hellenic Community.

A local line-up of talent delighted visitors with their music and dances from 4pm to 10pm.

The eateries that the district is famous for were packed with people and the aromas of souvlaki were tantalising.

In fact, the area literally caught fire with a small incident at Orexi, where thankfully a small blaze was quickly extinguished.

The free Greek Day had the support of Nikpol, the main sponsor, as well as Procal, Delphi Bank, O’Brien Real Estate and many others.
