Greek American actress Rita Wilson received the her very own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Hers was the 2,659th star, positioned just four stars away from that of her legendary husband, actor/filmmaker Tom Hanks.

She was extremely excited at the ceremony attended by her husband of 30 years and sons, Chet and Truman. Celebrity friends also came to support her, including Julia Roberts, Martin Short, Larry David and Nia Vardalos.

On the same day as the star, her new album Halfway to Home was also released on Friday.

The stars are permanent public monuments to achievement in the entertainment industry, bearing the names of a mix of musicians, actors, directors, producers, musical and theatrical groups, fictional characters, and others. The Walk of Fame is administered by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce and maintained by the self-financing Hollywood Historic Trust. It is a popular tourist destination.
