An international poster competition that aims to support the image of Modern Greece around the world is looking for applications from artists of the diaspora to Design a Wish for Greece.
The initiative was developed by the Santorini Biennale of Arts, who will exhibit the posters in 25 cities all over the world. The exhibition will be held at the same time in big cities around the word from 10 January to 10 March 2013 and then will travel to Santorini from 20 April to 30 September 2013.
The reason behind the exhibition is to use the message of art to produce a positive image for Greece. The Design a Wish for Greece project aims to fight the humiliation Greece suffers today and aims to show to the world that helping our country to retrieve its glory is an important action of dignity and solidarity.
The competition is open to all artists and you can participate as a single artists or as a group of two artists only. All submissions are to be done via the website www.santorinibiennale.gr/design-a-wish-for-greece. Artworks can be colour or and white. They can be photos, paintings, collages, graphics, drawings, illustrations or whatever you can develop – be creative. All artworks must be A2 size (landscape or portrait). If your artwork is a painting then you probably have to take a high resolution picture of it and fit it into an A2 size.
Cities taking part in the exhibition include: Sydney; Melbourne; Tokyo; Seoul; Mumbai; Calcutta; Rio de Janeiro; Sao Paulo; Buenes Airs; Shanghai; Beijing; New York; Toronto; Los Angeles; Montreal; London; Berlin; Moscow; Paris; Milan; Madrid; Tel Aviv; Athens; Thessaloniki and of course, Santorini. The exhibition will be curated by Kikos Papadopoulos (GR); Dimitra trogaidou (GR), Gregory Frangos (GR); Mina Diavataki (USA); Tassos Kitsopoulos (GR); Katia Papadopoulos (UK); Dimos Manolidis (AR); Constantina Efraimoglou (TR); Manos Trabakis (GR); Afroditi Kontopoulou (GR); and Marialena Tzitzi (GR).
