WINNERS

ANDREAS KATZOURAKIS
The unbeaten Greek prospect (3-0, 3 KOs) took a big step forward in his boxing career as he managed to take out one of the stars of Series Two Walter Wright (17-5, 8 KOs) with their fight being held at Montebello, California. Katzourakis won all six rounds of the competition according to the judges’ ruling. This win will open many doors for the aspiring young athlete who appears to be rising through the ranks very quickly and could soon be considered among the stars of professional boxing.

DIMITRIS ITOUDIS
The 48-year-old CSKA Moscow coach seems to be following in his master’s footsteps. Zeljko Obradovic’s former assistant now has his own achievements to brag about, with the 2016 Euroleague standing above them. His continued success on the bench of the Russian giants continues, as they are the clear favourites to win the VTB United League for yet another season, while also having advanced to the final four of the Euroleague. Of course Itoudis has a rich roster that helps make his life easier with the likes of Kyle Hines, Nando Decolo, Sergio Rodriguez and Andrey Vorontsevich at his disposal, but without the proper guidance these players could never have made it so far on their own.

ANNA KORAKAKI
The Olympic Gold medalist is proving that she remains at the top of her game and one of the best in the world with an air pistol. Korakaki managed to walk away from the World Championships held in Beijing with the bronze medal, with her impressive shot recorded at 25 metres. She is showing herself to be a force to be reckoned with.

SINNERS

KOSTAS MITROGLOU
The former Olympiacos striker shows no resemblance of his glory days when he scored over 20 goals wearing the Benfica jersey. Nowadays, and after a mostly unsuccessful run at Olympique Marseille, the 31-year-old forward spends most his time waiting to be given an opportunity by coach Fatih Terim at Turkish side Galatasaray, and in the few that he gets, he doesn’t make much of them. Kostas still has plenty of good years of football ahead of him and it is disappointing to watch Greece’s national team’s main attacking force be reduced to such a state, especially when we all know what he’s truly capable of. Hopefully he returns to form soon because he is a vital part of Greece’s efforts to reach the finals of EURO 2020.

STEFANOS TSITSIPAS
Stefanos Tsitsipas has been gifted with great natural talent, however he recently seems to be burning himself out. In an effort to stay on form, the 20-year-old tennis player hasn’t stop playing in international competitions since the Australian Open, which appears to be taking a toll on him. To further cement this point, one need look no further than his two recent losses against Jan-Lennard Struff and Felix Auger Aliassime, two undoubtedly good athletes but not close to Tsitsipas’ average. These defeats see the rising star drop out of the Top 10 ranking. Perhaps a small break away from the court would benefit both his body and mind.

GREEK CUP FINAL
Anyone involved with this game might as well be on this list. These two clubs have participated in the Greek Cup final for the last three years and every single time there are brutal clashes between their fans. The police have reached the point where they seem incapable of containing them, opting for the game to be held in front of empty seats, while both teams maintain the selfish position of wanting to hand out tickets to their fans, knowing full well what happens when they do. We’ve seen in the past that no matter how tight security measures are, they will find a way to turn a peaceful game into mayhem so perhaps it would be a step in the right direction if the final was indeed held with just the officials. At the very least, it would ensure the safety of all those involved and not give yet another excuse for Greek football to be discussed for all the wrong reasons abroad.
