Thirteen Greek Australian candidates will be contesting the Federal election on 18 May; the list of candidates features several fresh-faced politicians and veterans representing a broad range of views and parties.

As the deadline for candidates enrolling with the Victorian Electoral Commission closed, the House of Representatives counts five candidates of Greek background:
– Connor Parissis, contesting the seat of Barton της ΝΝΟ with the Greens
– Ignatios Tsiriplis, an United Australia Party candidate for the seat of Werriwa in NSW
– Steve Georganas, Labor candidate for Adelaide, SA
– Maria Vamvakinou, Labor candidate in Calwell, VIC
– Julia Banks, independent candidate for Flinders, VIC

Six New South Wales candidates are vying for a spot in the Senate:
– Andrew Katelaris, with Help End Marijuana Prohibition (HEMP) Party
– Steven Georgantis, with Australian People’s Party
– Susan Tsangaris, also with Australian People’s Party
– Paul Gerantonis, with Seniors United Party of Australia
– Angela Vithoulkas, representing The Small Business Party
– Fiona Douskou, with The Small Business Party as well

Meanwhile, two more candidates are contesting the Senate:
– In the Northern Territory Andrew Kavasilas, is representing the Help End Marijuana Prohibition (HEMP) Party, while
– In Western Australia Peter Georgiou is running for the Senate supported by One Nation

*Liberal Senator Arthur Sinodinos remains with the Senate until the end of his term on 30 June 2022.
