Greece’s Maria Sakkari lifted her first WTA trophy in style at the Grand Prix de SAR La Princesse Lalla Meryem in Morocco on Saturday, coming back from a set down against Johanna Konta in the final to triumph 2-6, 6-4, 6-1.

She claimed victories over top seed and defending champion Elise Mertens and Alison Van Yutvanck at number 8.

Sakkari is champion for the first time at a WTA event.

Following this win, she is expected to surge to the WTA’s Top 50 when new rankings are released on Monday.
