Following their loss against Old Carey, the Hawthorn Spartans have returned with a vengeance.

The club bounced back over the weekend by annihilating Mazenod at Rathmines Reserve.

The difference between the two teams was great, since the visitors have only managed to find one win this entire season (ironically, against Old Carey) and don’t possess the squad depth necessary to keep up with the Spartans.

That became blatantly obvious from the first quarter, as Hawthorn managed to claim a 42 point advantage with Mazenod unable to find a single field goal.

With the win having been sealed from early on for the Spartans, a few of the younger players were able to get some quality time on the field.

It was a great game all around for the home side, with A. Mitropoulos and J. Farah standing out, having scored three times each.

This Saturday the Spartans turn their attention to Swinburne University, who they will meet at St James Park (at 2.00 pm).
