Greek Australian Steven Theochari won the competition StarNow Music Immersive 2012, getting his very own ticket to Hollywood. The 20-year-old singer, actor and model from Melbourne will have the opportunity to find his place in the illusive entertainment industry.
The StarNow Music Immersive Competition is an annual competition held by the StarNow international website. The competition gives singers the opportunity to enter in a video audition and go into the running to win a big prize, including an expenses paid trip to Hollywood.
“The videos accumulate votes and they then narrow the finalists down, by who has the most votes. The judges also select 10 wildcard contestants, and that’s how I was selected. For my audition song Read All About It, I made a video myself, with the help of my mum and a friend,” Steven tells Neos Kosmos.
Steven was born in Australia, to a Greek Cypriot father and mother from Peloponnese. Since a young age, he has always felt a strong love and attraction to the arts in general, music mostly.
“Since I found this passion within music and the arts I felt that I had no choice but to pursue it. I have been singing, acting and modelling for years. I love it more and more each day and I feel that if you choose to pursue a career you love, you will never have to work a day. People spend their whole life searching for who and what they love and what they want to do. My future goals include to reach international success with my music and to help people get through hard times with my music,” Steven says.
At the end of January next year, the young Greek Australian artist will fly to Hollywood, where he will take part in the world famous Music Immersive program.
“The Hollywood Music Immersive is an international music program, including singing. The program consists of workshops with industry professionals, the opportunity to record an original song in their studio facilities and a great chance to network with like-minded musicians and people within the industry,” Stevan says.
A trip to Hollywood, on professional basis, is no small feat – especially for a 20-year-old. As a determined and dedicated person – as he describes himself – Steven is not afraid of a challenge that is waiting for him in Hollywood. He will travel to LA with an open mind, ready to learn and grow as much as possible, he says.
“I’m looking forward to pushing my limits and taking myself out of my comfort zone. The competition is sending me for one week (the length of the Immersive Program), but I have arranged to stay on longer at my own expense, in order to spend some time in America and work with people who I might meet during the Immersive. I hope to meet as many like-minded people as possible, to have a great time and showcase my talents to industry people,” says Steven.
It seems that the StarNow Music Immersive competition and the title of a winner helped Steven to make up his mind about what was going to be his call in life: acting, modelling, singing or dancing.
“I would say that the profession of a singer would be most suited to me. It’s what I’m comfortable doing, it’s what I know that I do well, it’s what I absolutely love doing most and what I know that I was born to do. Acting and modelling would come as a close second though, dancing is more just done to support my singing,” concludes Steven.
